They ran away!
Lots more penguin images to follow but selecting the best will take a while. This was taken on a drizzly day on Saunders Island (The Falklands).
They are truly comical creatures, penguins. To read an excellent account of penguin behaviour I thoroughly recommend Herbert Ponting’s account in The Great White South. (Link to Amazon – several editions available). I am indebted to Geoff Procter for putting me on to Ponting, the photographer on Scott’s ill-fated expedition. Ponting writes extensively about the Adelie, a species we saw very infrequently and one of which I have a single decent image from 3 sightings. To follow.
I am enjoying this entire set of posts and images…well done, Andrew!
They are so amazing!
They were running away from your large equipment, Mr Ha.
They went to be photographed for “Enter the Penguin”. 🙂 Antarctic street at its finest, Andrew. 🙂
Great image. Looking forward to more penguin shots
Really cute birds. If one uses their imagination, some of them look like children running to the water.
