Back from our short trip away and the camera went too, of course. Here are some of the ok images in no particular order.
I don’t really have a favourite but if any stands out to you I’d be interested to know and why. Macau is excellent for a short break even if you don’t go to the casinos. It is heavily geared up for the mainland Chinese tourist trade. We thoroughly recommend the Mandarin Oriental – quite outstanding – even if they can’t quite manage my non-Chinese name. A smooth ferry or turbo cat ride from HK (one hour) and you are there. Beware the cheating taxi drivers. Mrs. Ha set about one with her proverbial brolly when he tried to take us a long route back to the hotel. He switched the meter off in fear and I almost felt sorry for him in the end. But fun to spectate.
Friday tomorrow and I may take a day off. TTFN.
Church, dog and wall art. Not for the wall art but for the building. I love the semi-dilapidation and the pristine look of the church (?) behind. And for those who like people (not me) you even included a few of those species.
Church, Rough Seas? Only if you pray in a casino 🙂
It was the dome that did it. There’s probably more praying goes on in a casino than there is in church but as I don’t go to either, both seem to cost money and give little in return, I can’t really say.
Purple umbrella is my favorite of the collection followed closely by the green door and the fortune teller…I hope she got good news.
The fortunate teller predicted a 30-3 win for Wales.
I am sure you will be paying the gentleman a return visit next match then. 🙂
The incense and the blue-green door stands out for me. Nice series.
Outstanding scenes!
Andrew I absolutely loved How Now Brown Chow. He just blew me away!
No phorograph — you’re such an anarchist!
🙂
Andrew, these are all exceptionally lovely BUT for me there are 2 that really stand out. Purple umbrella and Green Door detail. WHY? because they are about ordinary things. The Green Door made me shiver – I paint, I love colour, the contrast of the red and the green, tremendous – that’s what sold that one to me and then Purple Umbrella – because it’s a filthy umbrella, behind a dirty old metalwork gate. There’s a story in there and some unanswered questions. The fact that it’s unappealing makes it appealing to me. There is nothing obviously beautiful in the picture but I think I know exactly why you took it. It’s probably my favourite of the lot.
Glad you had a great time! 😀
Thanks Lottie. I am learning about colours, what works and what doesn’t and its a long way from my normal B&W. I also like detail shots and as you say there are often untold stories. Maybe Kafka is lurking there, disguised as a beetle. When we got back I didn’t think I had any decent shots but maybe half a dozen are ok. It’s nice to be home, though.
