On the command………WAIT for it……….Eyes….. LEFT!Private Pike, no leapfrog on parade! And for the Empress herself a clear case of “all fur coat……”Here’s the bill. And some ghostly shots to finish. I think it is fair to say I was bored in the hides today. Yawn…….
Superb work Andrew, as always. Do you sell prints?
I have never tried, Mark. Do you think I should?
No harm in trying I guess. I really like the shot of the Heron landing on the heads of…. (whatever they were, lol). As you can see I am not quite an ornithologist.
Wow, if that is your idea of a boring day, how can you stand to read my blog!!! ?? This was a fantastic post. You have a great sense of humor, and your photography is out of this world – or at least this neighborhood. We have woodpeckers here. Fantastic! π
Thank you Marsha. It is good to know people like the humour. With a wide audience you always have to think about how well understood certain references might be. Hopefully there is something for everybody.
Fantastic series! I love those white spoonies and I am looking forward to a visit by their pink cousins here. The one fly hoping over the other is amazing and gotta love the GBH!
The hopper is a trick of perspective, Phil. The 800 has flattened it out – in reality the spoony is just taking off behind the other one. But it just looked like they were playing leap frog!!
This series is absolutely beautiful, and I am not even a bird-crazy (just ordinary bird-lover). And wonderful birds, I have never seen these. Favorites: a lot of them!
Thank you, Bente. I’m really glad you like them.
Your captions are priceless. So are your captures. The leapfrogger with the twin trails of water is really cool. Likewise for the ghostly blurs.
The leapfrogger was an unexpected bonus when I went through the images Steve. Otherwise the day was a huge disappointment – the tides were all wrong and the birds didn’t perform. And I got up at 5am for that!
Too bad….but one man’s disappointment is another’s delight. Maybe not Wildlife Photographer of the Year images but still very enjoyable and nothing to sniff at, imo. π
Great, Andrew. The fur coat lady seems like she’s directing an orchestra…
All fur coat indeed! Well you seem to have made a damn fine job out of being bored. These are terrific. My favourite of course has to be All Fur coat BUT Here’s the Bill is excellent. Is that it’s tongue?? Goodness if it is, it gives a whole new meaning to ‘Kiss me French’
I’m not an expert on erget tongues, Lottie but I believe it is. The shape is designed to help it grasp slippery eels ( also known as Blairs).
You should be bored more often. Very good post. VG. Or 9/10. Or something like that.
I am flattered. Thank you.
Oh dear. How about a Good and an 8/10 then? I can’t remember what came below Good in my school marks at Junior School because I only ever got G or VG. Or occasionally VVG. Which would equate to 10/10.
At my school 7 came immediately before 8 but we did trad maths. I expect it has all changed nowadays. In the hide this morning the old fogey brigade (self included) were bemoaning the demise of the slide rule. I had just mastered sine, cosine etc and worked out the log tables when we switched to vectors, Venn diagrams and the like. We didn’t do computer science because nobody knew what a computer was. Calculators were the size of a cash register and cost roughly the GDP of Cyprus. And they tell us things are better now! Humbug.
I still have my slide rule π But sadly not my log table book, therefore the slide rule is of little use. Not that I could use it nowadays π I liked Venn and Vector too. Nice chaps. I did well at Maths O level π My dad bought a huge calculator and referred to it as a computer π
Of course things are better. Aren’t they? [true sign of ageing when you know they aren’t]
And of course policemen are getting younger π¦
Have you seen Hot Fuzz? Policemen officers is the correct description π

But yes they are. And shorter too.
I didn’t understand Hot Fuzz. Too intellectual for me maybe. I need slapstick – clowns with buckets of water.
Definitely shorter. And fatter. Or is that body armour?
I thought HF was a scream. I laugh every time we watch it. It helps that Timothy Dalton was in it too. The characters are so over the top they are brilliant. And the main character whatever he is called is so squeaky its unbelievable.
I don’t know. I don’t think they wear body armour in Gib.
So is HF a TV programme? I am confused.
Film.
