I threw down the gauntlet to Just Rod a day or so ago and he responded magnificently with this post. As I should have expected he threw down a return challenge, namely “will you show us images of your Blue Chasers in the air β not just lounging about on a twig“.
Well I looked for a BC in flight and couldn’t find one but I will offer this Pied Skimmer, Pseudothemis zonata.
Will it pass muster? I shall await the verdict.
Super BIF! (bug in flight) π
Great shot of a juvenile Pied Skimmer! The diaper is a dead giveaway…;)
I think I see the diaper rash – you are right, Barry.
What ever and no matter. Looks good to me.I thought it was a US military drone in fancy dress that was hovering near your house.
Yvonne, that’s hilarious. I will keep that (and re-use it)!! Thank you.
Andrew, you are welcome. I am honored that you will use that little ditty that came from out of no where. π
tss tss tssss. Always these Photoshop tricks…. π
….
No, really well done, Andrew! Looks fantastic!
What an awesome shot? Absolutely incredible, passed muster as far as I am concerned.

Fabulous
I’m not sure that this will pass muster. As good as this photograph is, Rod said that he wanted a Blue Chaser. Come on Andrew, don’t let the side down π
Then I reserve the right to state which species of hummer Rod should photograph – retroactively π
We only have Ruby Throated Hummers here. So unless travel expenses are included that’s it.
Now, now Mr Hardacre. Retroactive? Hah! my foot. Now be off with you and do as Rod requested π
I looked and looked, but I can’t see the little mobile string you hung this by. π Very nice, Andrew. I have yet to catch a decent in flight shot of anything. Is this with the 400/5.6? I understand that to be a superior in-flight lens.
I cloned the string out Steve!! ππ. Lens was the 180mm +1.4x TC
