I have spent many fruitful hours and eventually come up with an explanation for this bird’s name. : -)
Hasn’t anyone ever told it that it’s in the wrong country ?
Like you, for instance ?
Pretty good shot, all things considered.
(What ? ….. . .. …. …… . … Oh, ANY things.)
Beautiful bird!
Has anyone tried spraying the tree with anti fungal sprays in the spring? Although not a cure, it will allow the tree to leaf and do its thang 😃
I love the way he/she is holding that useful nest-building leaf.
We try to provide everything in our garden Hilary. HK’s answer to Homebase?
Keen looking bird. All birds look keen. I suppose flying about you have to have your wits about. Nice photo.
Thank you Gerard. It was definitely keen.
Bellissimo questo uccellino e molto bella la foto!!
Ciao, Pat
Thank you Pat

Always nice to see a bird I’ver never seen before and such a fine looking fellow.
Thanks Simon.
Pretty bird. Pretty bird. That’s what many parrots say. I like the white around the eye. Very nice capture.
Beautiful bird!

Oh the tree leafs ok but it looks yukky and they don’t seem to last long before falling off.
Looks very similar to what we called a waxeye in NZ…
AV
I looked it up AV. Officially your waxeye is called a Silvereye and it is the same genus. Very close!
Perfect shot!
Thanks Victor.
Fantastic shot! I’d enjoy seeing this common bird around my garden.
I do too, Caroline. Thanks.
A beautiful bird and a fine shot of the white eye. Very nicely done Andrew
Thanks James.
Any idea how it came by the name, Andrew??
You have some nice setups in your garden for your birds and this is a fine look at the White-eye.
No idea Steve. I’ll try to find out 😉
It’s a little beauty!
What colour are your frangipani blossoms? We have white, cream and pinkish ones here in Dismal Swamp. Isn’t the fragrance intoxicating!
Same here Yvonne but our tree suffers from Frangipani rust. Can’t get rid of it. Very sad.
That’s too bad. How old is your tree?
Oh I think about 6-7 years. Well established. Most of the Frangipanis locally seem to have the problem.
