A series of pictures that tell a story. In this case, if a picture is worth a thousand words, then we have a novella unfolding in just a few scenes.
Excellent.
Great fun, Andrew. I think it is very effective, the portraits in black and white (I agree with you on that) and then the final shot in cool tones except for the finger, the center of focus.
I know nothing of board games but the photos are excellent of the man’s expressions and that’s what I like about candid street photography. Again these are quite good. It appears to be cool/cold there with the men wearing jackets but the sun appears to be shinning.
Apparently he never learned the stretch your arms and shove the board move.
All are great studies, Andrew. Both yesterday’s and today’s subjects have wonderful lines in their faces. Handsome are both. The light on his hand as he moves his piece is perfect.
Those chess pieces are no fun. Where’s the horsie?

Stupende le espressioni che hai colto con i tuoi scatti, sembrano veramente parlare queste foto.
Bravissimo 🙂
Ciao, Pat

May the best man win!

Its Chinese chess, Steve. No bishops either.
How does that compare to western chess, Andrew? Similarly as in the two checkers?
No idea Steve. Maybe they play right to left?
A great set of this character deep in concentration. A perfect face for mono work
