The nest hole is noisy. I think the kids are getting ready to fledge. Here are the parents during a very busy afternoon. Mum above and dad below. In this family dad gets to wear the lipstick.
If you are looking for moths ask the woodpecker to open wide and say “aaahhhhhh”.
Nice to see some moth-catching competition in this form. Last time I saw one of these was in a park on the grass… they’ll be after the moles next.
What a beautiful pair! I’m sure these guys have attained their goal of 1000 moths. …EATEN this year! 😉
I was hoping the family would raise some young and now you have the photos of the male and the female. This is fantastic news for your fans. I think these two make a lovely couple. I hope you’ll be able to see the young before they fledge and get some interesting pics.
Love the woodpecker photos, Andrew 🙂
Amazing, Andrew! Outstanding pictures.
Congratulations on vicarious fatherhood, Andrew. 1365mm zoom on your SX60? Not too shabby.
Steve, the sensor is poor over 400. Even that is a push. And my shutter speeds were crazily high because of the variable aperture of the zoom. They are fun record shots. No more.
The birds are identifiable and the behavior recognizable. So fun and worthwhile even if not cover shots. 🙂
Great shots. Hope to see the chicks.
Oh yeah, I like those colours! Very striking. Watch out, Mac and Rimmel.
Always liked a man in lipstick…
We try to please.
Beautiful pictures Andrew,I hope all is well in moth world
Let’s see that thousand
Well we are in the 170s now Sheldon. Motoring on.
